Bitcoin on Track to Surpass Microsoft within a Year

In 2024, Bitcoin has experienced significant success and reached a new all-time high price of $73,679 on March 13. Since then, it has remained around the $70K mark, demonstrating a growth rate of over 140% compared to the previous year. At its peak, Bitcoin briefly surpassed silver to become the eighth most valuable commodity in the world based on market capitalization.

If Bitcoin continues to grow at the same rate over the next year, it could potentially reach a price of around $170,574 by April 2025. This would place it ahead of Silver, as well as prominent companies like Amazon, Alphabet, Saudi Aramco, Google, Nvidia, and Microsoft, securing the second-place spot on the list of the top 100 commodities by capitalization.

While this projection assumes Bitcoin’s growth remains consistent and the rest of the market remains stable, it allows us to use current market capitalizations as a benchmark for potential future growth. For instance, by increasing its current price from $69,678 to $71,732, Bitcoin could surpass silver in market capitalization and claim the eighth-place spot on the list.

Similarly, if Bitcoin reaches a price of approximately $95,642, it could surpass both Google and Amazon, securing the sixth-place spot. To surpass Microsoft’s market capitalization and move into second place, Bitcoin would need to reach a total market value of approximately $2.65 trillion, equivalent to $165,608 per BTC.

Despite these seemingly high numbers, it’s crucial to note that Bitcoin’s price has increased by approximately 144.82% year over year from April 2023 to March 2024. If this growth rate continues, Bitcoin could reach a price of $170,574, surpassing Microsoft’s market capitalization and claiming the second-place slot.

Once Bitcoin secures second place, assuming the market and Bitcoin’s price alone continues to rise, its price would need to be around $800,476 per BTC to surpass gold’s market capitalization of $15.141 trillion. This would make Bitcoin the top commodity on the market cap leaderboard.

Bitcoin’s performance in 2024 has been impressive, and its potential for future growth positions it as a strong contender among the world’s most valuable commodities.
