Mirror World Secures $12M Funding for Solana Gaming Studio

Mirror World Labs, a gaming studio operating on the Solana blockchain, has successfully garnered $12 million in its first Series A funding round. This financial milestone was achieved with the support of prominent investors such as Bitkraft, Galaxy Interactive, Big Brain Holdings, and several others. The primary goal of this fundraising effort is to propel the development of their gaming rollup, Sonic.

CEO and founder Chris Zhu emphasized the company’s track record over the past two years. During this period, Mirror World Labs collaborated with hundreds of games within the Web3 gaming ecosystem, offering assistance with monetization and game listing services. Zhu highlighted that their focus has predominantly been on Solana, developing a comprehensive suite of tools and frameworks tailored specifically for gaming applications. He expressed confidence that Sonic SVM would be instrumental in catalyzing a wave of new game launches on the Solana platform, promising a vibrant “Solana gaming summer.”

The newly acquired funds aim to expedite the advancement of the Sonic protocol, enhancing it with features such as sandbox environments, customizable gaming primitives, and versatile data types. These improvements are expected to attract new developers to the Solana gaming ecosystem while making it easier for existing game developers to integrate with the Sonic SVM and the HyperGrid Framework. The latter is a rollup deployment kit that facilitates the introduction of new game engines and virtual machines within the Solana landscape.

Despite Solana’s success in the memecoin and decentralized application sectors, its gaming segment has not experienced the same level of acclaim. Developers behind Sonic believe that this innovative protocol could provide the necessary support for launching Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) chains, benefiting other game development projects in the GameFi domain.

Sonic’s protocol made its debut on March 29 and has since been rolled out to 50 gaming clients serving as initial distribution nodes. Early success stories include Mahjong Meta, Matr1x Fire, and Seraph/ActozSoft, which saw substantial increases in traffic and transaction activities—reportedly over 200,000 actions during gaming sessions after adopting the Mirror World SDK.

Founded in 2022, Mirror World Labs has been dedicated to developing the gaming infrastructure for Solana, covering every phase of the game’s lifecycle. This includes onboarding developers, engaging gamers, and offering technical solutions to various gaming-related challenges.

The studio’s commitment to building a robust Solana gaming infrastructure is driven by the belief in the platform’s potential to become a dominant blockchain for gaming applications. Their extensive toolkit and support system aim to lower barriers for developers, providing them with the resources needed to bring their gaming ideas to life.

As of now, Mirror World Labs has amassed a total of $16 million through venture capital funding. This financial injection will likely accelerate their mission to refine and expand the Solana gaming ecosystem, further solidifying their position as a key player in the blockchain gaming sector.
