Simplified Crypto Purchases with Coinbase Ledger

Ledger, a leading hardware wallet provider, and Coinbase, a popular crypto exchange, have announced a partnership aimed at simplifying the process of buying and transferring cryptocurrencies. The collaboration involves integrating Coinbase’s on-ramp solution, Coinbase Pay, into the Ledger Live application. This means that users can now transfer their crypto assets and make transactions directly from their desktop or mobile devices. Users can receive their crypto purchases directly on their Ledger devices. The previous process of transferring crypto from an exchange to a self-custody wallet was complicated and prone to errors, according to Ledger.

Ian Rogers, the Chief Experience Officer at Ledger, stated that purchasing and transferring crypto to a self-custody wallet was tedious before this collaboration. He believes that the integration has simplified the process, comparing it to how travel agency Skyscanner simplified booking travel. Rogers explained that the integration makes it much easier for users to buy crypto through Coinbase and have the funds deposited securely in their Ledger wallet.

When asked about the demand for self-custody wallets, Rogers noted that they anticipate the existence of different wallets, similar to having multiple bank accounts. The collaboration with Coinbase gives consumers the option to choose between different wallets. Rogers emphasized that the integration makes the experience simpler, particularly for newcomers to self-custody. He highlighted that at the end of the day, users have the choice to opt for digital ownership through self-custody.

Ledger believes that the crypto space is entering a new phase driven by the recent launch of spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs). They anticipate an influx of new users entering the crypto space through these ETFs. Ledger hopes that these new users will eventually choose self-custody, which they describe as the true use case for crypto.

  1. This partnership is a win-win for both Ledger and Coinbase users! The integration simplifies the experience and makes it more convenient for all of us. Thank you!

  2. Buying and transferring crypto was already a headache, and now Ledger wants to complicate it further with this collaboration. No thanks. 🤦‍♀️

  3. I don’t need more options. It’s already overwhelming enough to navigate the crypto space. This collaboration just adds to the confusion. 😫

  4. This integration doesn’t make any sense. It’s just another way for Ledger and Coinbase to make more money off of users. 😒
